"Fractal geometry appears to have created a new category of art," wrote Benoit Mandelbrot, who studied self-similarity and coined the term "fractals" in 1975. Designer Robert Hodgin created these four renderings of the Mandelbrot set for Seed by using a technique called the "Buddhabrot," which plots images using an open source programming environment and freely available code.
